Electrokinetic energy conversion

The electrokinetic power conversion has recieved significant attention due to resonable power generation and renewable energy sources in nanometer scale. Applying a salt concentration gradient or mechanical pressure, the cation or anion pass through a charged porous membrane depending on ion selectivity which occurs streaming current and potential. Using this electrokinetic phenomena, the permselective porous membrane system is used as a fluidic generator. Recently, various membranes are investigated to improve the efficiency of energy conversion with low power requirement. 

MEL develops the ionic diode membrane or single nanopore membrane then estimate the power performance resulting from electrokinetic phenomena.
