IGBT thermal management
As the demands for high performance electric vehicles rapidly increases, heat dissipation of power semiconductors such as IGBTs is becoming a serious issue. A number of liquid cooling based thermal management solutions are developed. Since the liquid based cooling method requires pumping energy to circulate the coolant, compact design of the thermal management system will be important for the high performance EVs/HEVs having a limited space.
MEL develops reliable and compact thermal management solutions for high power IGBTs in EV/HEV applications using effective thermal and hydraulic design of the cooling system. To obtain higher cooling performance with low pumping energy, effective configuration of cooling paths combined with high porosity metal foam can be applied.
